چکیده

ABSTRACT As drinking camel milk for treatment of diabetes is common practice and as it was previously found that camel milk has large concentrations of insulin, a project was carried out to examine this phenomenon. Colostrum and milk of various mammals were examined for insulin and the effect of camel milk on blood sugar levels of laboratory rats was examined. It was found that colostrums contained much higher levels of insulin than milk. In all mammalian milk examined there were relatively high concentrations of insulin. It was further found that in starved laboratory animals who were fasted and thirsted for 24hr, causing endogenous insulin to be low, camel milk cause a decline in blood sugar. This decline was temporary as lactose was converted to glucose and the absorbed, pushing blood glucose up to normal. It is concluded that although all milks had insulin, the fact that only camel milk is unaffected by gastric acid allows it to pass into the intestines where it is apparently absorbed.

Determination of Insulin Concentration in Camel Milk Using Ultra Violet –Visible Absorption Spectroscopy

ABSTRACT: Camel milk contains sufficient levels of insulin and does not form the coagulum in the stomach preventing degradation of insulin and act as an effective vehicle to take the milk insulin unchanged to the intestine. In present study direct spectroscopy and standard addition method, well-known methods in analytical chemistry were used for determining insulin concentration in camel milk. ...

Effect of Camel Milk on Oxidative Stresses in Experimentally Induced Diabetic Rabbits

Camel milk has an importance in the treatment of diabetes. It has been shown that the patients who drink camel milk daily, their need to insulin decrease. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the effect of camel milk in comparison with insulin treatment in experimentally-induced diabetes. This study was carried out on forty male New Zealand rabbits, divided into four groups with ten rabbi...

Crucial role of milk-borne insulin in the development of pancreatic amylase at the onset of weaning in rats.

The development of pancreatic amylase activity was examined in rats fed in regular cages or in special cages, designed so the pups could not reach solid food to prevent weaning. In both groups, the amylase activity in zymogen granules increased in rat pups aged 14 days, peaked at 18 days, and thereafter remained at a 1.6-fold higher level than at 14 days of age. An increase in the plasma concen...

Comparative Study of Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) and Statistical Methods for Predicting the Performance of Ultrafiltration Process in the Milk Industry

Milk ultrafiltration is a membrane process, which is highly complex innature. The cost effectiveness of the process depends heavily on the flux permeate and the total hydraulic resistance of the membrane. In this work, a comparative study for the prediction of the performance of milk ultrafiltration with ANN and statistical method has been carried out. The result reveals that both methods c...
